Wet Belts
A wet belt, also known as an oil-driven timing belt, is a specific type of timing drive system used in a number of modern engines, including many Ford, Peugeot, Citroen, and Vauxhall units.
Unlike a conventional dry cambelt, a wet belt runs submerged in engine oil. This makes it quieter and more compact, but it also means that oil quality and condition have a direct bearing on belt life. Neglected oil changes accelerate belt wear significantly, and a failed wet belt causes the same catastrophic engine damage as any other timing failure.
Wet belt work is a specialist area, and not every garage has the experience or tooling to carry it out correctly.
We’re one of the most experienced independent garages in the area for this type of work. We carry out all wet belt replacements for British Telecom’s Open Reach Transit fleet across the region, a level of volume and consistency that reflects real specialism in this area. We also carry out wet belt work on a wide range of other vehicles, including Ford Transit and Transit Custom, Peugeot, Citroen, and Vauxhall models fitted with wet belt engines.
If your vehicle has a wet belt engine and you’re unsure whether it’s due for replacement, get in touch. We’ll check the specification for your engine and advise on the correct interval. All work is quoted upfront, and we cover drivers from Waterlooville and across the wider Hampshire area.
As a Bosch Service network member, a HEVRA-approved EV and hybrid specialist, and an IMI-affiliated garage, we’re independently verified to meet recognised standards across the board. For you, that means confidence in the quality of the work, without having to just take our word for it.
