EV & Hybrid Repairs & Servicing
Electric and hybrid vehicles are no longer niche, but garages properly equipped to service and repair them still are. At Collison Motoring Services, we’ve made a serious investment in EV and hybrid capability, and our team has the qualifications and equipment to back it up.
If you drive a hybrid or fully electric vehicle and you want it looked after properly in the Waterlooville area, without paying main dealer prices, you’re in the right place.
Three of our technicians hold IMI Level 4 qualifications in hybrid and electric vehicle technology, the highest level of EV-specific training available through the Institute of the Motor Industry. This isn’t a box-ticking exercise. It means the people working on your vehicle understand high-voltage systems, battery management, and the specific demands of EV and hybrid drivetrains at a genuinely advanced level.
All of our technicians also complete ongoing Bosch training courses, and our workshop is equipped with professional-grade diagnostic tools, including Bosch KTS and Opus diagnostic systems, to accurately interpret the data your vehicle generates. We can carry out software updates and coding where required, something many independents simply can’t offer.
We work on all makes and models of hybrid and electric vehicles, from mild hybrids through to fully electric cars, and vans up to 3.5 tonnes.
Collison Motoring Services is an approved member of HEVRA, the Heat Electric Vehicle Recovery Association and the UK’s leading trade body for EV and hybrid repair. HEVRA approval isn’t simply a membership. Garages must demonstrate verified technical competence in electric and hybrid vehicle systems to qualify, and maintain those standards to retain it.
For you as a driver, HEVRA approval is one of the clearest independent signals that a garage has the training, equipment, and procedures in place to work safely and competently on your vehicle.
Yes. Under UK block exemption regulations, any qualified independent garage can carry out manufacturer-schedule servicing on your vehicle without invalidating the warranty, provided the correct parts and service intervals are used. At Collison Motoring Services, we follow manufacturer specifications and use appropriate original equipment parts, so your warranty remains fully protected.
A hybrid still has a conventional combustion engine alongside its electric motor, so it requires many of the same service items as a petrol or diesel car, including oil changes, filters, and brake checks, alongside checks on the hybrid battery and electrical systems. A fully electric vehicle has no combustion engine, so the service focus shifts to battery health, cooling systems, brake fluid, and software. We carry out both.
Provided the garage has the right training and equipment, absolutely. High-voltage systems require specific safety procedures and qualified technicians. At Collison Motoring Services, three of our team hold IMI Level 4 EV qualifications, and we follow all required safety protocols when working on hybrid and electric vehicles.
Yes. We use Bosch KTS and Opus diagnostic systems to read fault codes and interpret live data across all makes and models, including hybrid and electric vehicles. If a warning light has appeared, we’ll identify the cause accurately and talk you through the findings before any work is agreed.
Yes. We offer collection and delivery within 15 miles of our workshop in Cowplain, Waterlooville, and a courtesy car is available if you need to stay on the move while your vehicle is with us. All work is quoted upfront, with no hidden costs.
